Russell Crowe: Ready to 'Play'
March 27, 2009 at 5:30 pm

Russell Crowe plays an investigative journalist who uncovers a Washington conspiracy in 'State of Play,' in theaters April 17, and in addition to his new thriller, he's talking about his next role as Robin Hood!

"I have a rule, which is called the goose bump rule," Russell tells our own Thea Andrews via satellite. "If I read a script and it gets to me, and I feel a physical reaction to it, then I have to do the movie." After about halfway through the 'State of Play' script, Russell says he got goose bumps, "and I was like oh, well, there goes my Christmas [vacation]."

In 'State of Play,' Russell plays Cal McAffrey, a street smart D.C. reporter who finds his loyalties and journalistic integrity put to the test when the assistant of his old friend, up-and-coming U.S. Congressman Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck), is brutally murdered.

Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Kiefer Sutherland and Hugh Laurie lend their voices to the wild, 3-D animated movie 'Monsters vs. Aliens,' in theaters everywhere today, and our own Kevin Frazier's asking them about some of their favorite things!

What's your favorite movie of all time?
Reese: "My favorite movie is 'Spendor in the Grass' with Warren Beatty and Natalie Wood."
Seth: "'Terminator 2,' because it rules! Have you seen it lately? It's amazing."
Kiefer: "'Lawrence of Arabia.'"
Hugh: "'Dr. Strangelove.'"

What's the last great book you read?
Reese: "I'm reading a great book right now that my girlfriend gave me called The Red Letter Diaries, and that's really good."
Seth: "Do comic books count? The Nightly News. It's a great comic I just read. It's awesome."
Kiefer: "I just re-read it. To Kill a Mockingbird. I thought it was so groundbreaking, through the eyes of Scout. It was storytelling, in my opinion, at it's best."
Hugh: Mr. Pip.
