No foul play involved in Jackson's death — but cause won't be known for at least another month

A final verdict from Michael Jackson’s autopsy will take up to six weeks, the chief coroner investigating his death has announced.

Police seized vials of prescription drugs from the entertainer’s rented Holmby Hills estate in Los Angeles as part of their ongoing investigation into what caused the King of Pop’s cardiac arrest and death on Thursday (25Jun09), leading to speculation Jackson suffered a drug overdose.

Earlier reports suggested results from the autopsy would be available on Friday (26Jun09), one day after The King of Pop passed away.

However, Los Angeles coroner officials - who have found no evidence of foul play in Jackson’s death - are taking extra time to complete toxicology, neuropathology and pulmonary tests before determining the exact cause.

Chief coroner and investigator Craig Harvey says: “The cause of death has been deferred, which means that the medical examiner has ordered additional testing, such as toxicology and other studies, and those tests we anticipate will take approximately four to six weeks to complete. At that time, once those test results have been completed, we anticipate being able to close the case and issue a final cause of death. There was no indication of any external trauma and no indication of foul play on the body Mr. Michael Jackson.”

Meanwhile, Jackson’s body has been released and his family is free to make funeral arrangements.

Glastonbury = rain

Even during a unseasonably hot British summer, the rain Gods can be relied upon muster up enough moisture to guarantee a wet Glastonbury Festival.

The seminal music event may not be a complete washout this year, but the sight of Peaches and Pixie Geldof trampling through a muddy field is one of the more predictable Glastonbury sights.

Bruce Springsteen is headlining this year’s festival. Let’s hope the Boss can make the sun come out.

Drugs seized at Jackson's home

Police have seized vials of prescription drugs from Michael Jackson’s rented Holmby Hills estate in Los Angeles as part of their ongoing investigation into what caused the King of Pop’s cardiac arrest and death on Thursday.

Jackson family lawyer Brian Oxman has confirmed “bags of material” have been taken by cops.

He tells Life & Style magazine, “They (police) were looking for drug vials and syringes. I don’t know if they found syringes, but there would have been a lot of drug vials.”

Oxman came out publicly shortly after Jackson’s death, suggesting the pop superstar had been guzzling prescription painkillers and anti-anxiety pills in the months before his untimely death - and now he’s ready to name doctors who signed off on the drugs he fears killed his friend.

Reports suggest Jackson suffered a drug overdose, which led to his cardiac arrest.

Oxman insists he will help the police investigation into Michael’s death, adding, “I did warn him about the drugs, but I am sorry I didn’t warn him enough.

“I am going to wait until I get the toxicology report, and if his death has something to do with drugs, I am prepared to name names of doctors who prescribed them.”

Trying to tell us something Johnny?

Johnny Depp’s choice of clothing accessory during a stroll through New York yesterday raised eyebrows among the city’s gay community.

The happily-attached (to a woman) actor sported his usual gypsy-themed attire on his way to a taping of David Letterman’s talk show — including a pink handkerchief tucked into the pocket of his trousers.

WENN’s expert on such matters reliably informs us that this colour hanky is code in the gay community — and suggests Johnny is a fan of… dildoes.

Read into that what you will…

After all the rumours of a marriage break-up, it was good to see Pete Wentz treat his bride to a night out in New York this week.

Well…Ashlee was certainly there in body, if not in spirit.

The singer looked like she’d left the party long before Pete escorted her from the Big Apple’s Hard Rock Cafe.

Megan Fox’s mystery flower boy is an 11-year-old Brit called Harvii Kindlon.

A day after Kodak offered a $5,000 reward to track down the chivalrous fan, he’s been found on Facebook boasting about his brush with fame.

But it seems Megan’s not the only celebrity he’s keen on — Harvii has also posted pictures of himself with Lady Gaga and Kevin Jonas.
