His body is currently in transit to the Santa Barbara, California ranch after a second autopsy, After the public viewing, a private memorial service is scheduled for Sunday. Jackson is finally expected to be laid in his home town of Gary, Indiana, according to the city’s mayor.

A final verdict from Michael Jackson’s autopsy will take up to six weeks, the chief coroner investigating his death has announced. Police seized vials of prescription drugs from the entertainer’s rented Holmby Hills estate in Los Angeles as part of their ongoing investigation into what caused the King of Pop’s cardiac arrest and death on Thursday (25Jun09), leading to speculation Jackson suffered a drug overdose. Earlier reports suggested results from the autopsy would be available on Friday (26Jun09), one day after The King of Pop passed away. However, Los Angeles coroner officials - who have found no evidence of foul play in Jackson’s death - are taking extra time to complete toxicology, neuropathology and pulmonary tests before determining the exact cause. Chief coroner and investigator Craig Harvey says: “The cause of death has been deferred, which means that the medical examiner has ordered additional testing, such as toxicology and other studies, and those tests we anticipate will take approximately four to six weeks to complete. At that time, once those test results have been completed, we anticipate being able to close the case and issue a final cause of death. There was no indication of any external trauma and no indication of foul play on the body Mr. Michael Jackson.” Meanwhile, Jackson’s body has been released and his family is free to make funeral arrangements. |

Police have seized vials of prescription drugs from Michael Jackson’s rented Holmby Hills estate in Los Angeles as part of their ongoing investigation into what caused the King of Pop’s cardiac arrest and death on Thursday. Jackson family lawyer Brian Oxman has confirmed “bags of material” have been taken by cops. He tells Life & Style magazine, “They (police) were looking for drug vials and syringes. I don’t know if they found syringes, but there would have been a lot of drug vials.” Oxman came out publicly shortly after Jackson’s death, suggesting the pop superstar had been guzzling prescription painkillers and anti-anxiety pills in the months before his untimely death - and now he’s ready to name doctors who signed off on the drugs he fears killed his friend. Reports suggest Jackson suffered a drug overdose, which led to his cardiac arrest. Oxman insists he will help the police investigation into Michael’s death, adding, “I did warn him about the drugs, but I am sorry I didn’t warn him enough. “I am going to wait until I get the toxicology report, and if his death has something to do with drugs, I am prepared to name names of doctors who prescribed them.” |

Michael Jackson has died, according to stunning reports from Los Angeles. The 50 year old suffered a cardiac arrest at his home in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles on Thursday and paramedics were called to the scene. Reports suggest the King of Pop was unconscious and not breathing. The medics had to perform CPR on the superstar as they rushed him to UCLA Medical Center. TMZ.com claims the Thriller singer has since died. Update 18.07 EST: Jackson’s father Joe has confirmed the singer suffered a heart attack. More news to follow… Update 18.26 EST: The LA Times is now confirming Jackson is dead. From The LA Times: Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times. Update 19.33 EST: Jackson family friend, attorney Brian Oxman has called into CNN from the UCLA Medical Center. He’s refusing to confirm Jacko’s death but suggests all reports are true. He has been “hugging and crying” with Jackson’s siblings Randy, Jermaine and LaToya and awaiting father Joe Jackson, who is on his way from Las Vegas. Intriguingly Oxman suggests Jackson was on “extensive medication” at the time of his death and cold have been the victim of an Anna-Nicole Smith scenario. He tells CNN: “This family has been trying for months and months and months to take care of Michael Jackson. The people who have surrounded him have been enabling him. “If you think the case of Anna Nicole Smith was an abuse, that is nothing compared to what has taken place in the life of Michael Jackson.” “I do not know what medications he was taking, but the reports that we have received within the family are that they were extensive. “I don’t know the cause of all this. Officials at PETA have decided to name a cow they rescued in India after the birthday boy - in honour of his love for creatures great and small.
