Buffy headed back to big screen? May 26, 2009 at 3:12 pm Could Buffy the Vampire Slayer be going back to cinemas — with a new slayer? The Buffy character saw its biggest success on TV, as played by Sarah Michelle Gellar (above, on the set of The Wonderful Maladys in NYC) for six years before ending in 2003…but of course was originally introduced in the 1992 movie of the same name, and was played in the flick by Kristy Swanson. But the series could be coming full circle, going back to the big screen with a new actress in the titular role.  Director Fran Rubel Kuzui directed the original film and exec-produced both the series and its spinoff Angel; she owns the rights to the Buffy brand, and wants to reboot the franchise for film, replacing Gellar and the rest of the original cast with new actors to take on vampires and demons for a new generation. Kuzui told The Hollywood Reporter, “Everything has its moment. Every movie takes on a life at some point, and this seems like the moment to do this.” Translation: “Twilight is making bagfuls of money, and I want back in.”  Fair enough, and it’ll probably work; it remains to be seen how fans of the series, who were pretty hardcore, will react to a soup-to-nuts recast. Rumor mill churns up Minogue engagement May 26, 2009 at 11:08 am Australian pop star Kylie Minogue is reportedly engaged to Spanish model boyfriend Andres Velencoso after he allegedly popped the question in secret. The two met at a party in Paris last year, and have been inseparable since then.  Sources in Australia insist that Minogue is set to announce the engagement, and Minogue gushed about Velencoso to reporters at the Cannes Film Festival (where she’s shown performing, above, at the Palm Beach Casino’s Chopard charity party), telling reporters that “I’m happier with him than I have ever been before, you never know he could be the one. “He is great, who knows what the future holds but hopefully things will work out.” Not the most conclusive evidence we’ve ever put forth, but we wish her luck, and if the rumor pans out we’ll let you know. Richards, Sheen broker peace dinner May 26, 2009 at 9:43 am Denise Richards is hard at work keeping the newfound peace with ex-husband Charlie Sheen — she’s having family dinner with Sheen and his new wife and kids. After the couple’s notoriously nasty break-up, which found them leading a poll to find Hollywood’s bitterest exes, Richards and Sheen recently called a truce for the sake of their two  daughters. And Richards, shown above prior to the Dancing with the Stars finale last week, insists that the end of hostilities is for real, confirming that the entire blended family is getting along well — especially her and Sheen’s new wife, Brooke Mueller.  Richards told E! Online, “Believe it or not, we had dinner together with all of us. So I love that… It’s important for our daughters to see us get along and to be able to be in the same room.” Mueller gets the thumbs-up, after the jump. Richards continued, “Brooke and I have always gotten along, so obviously when we went through what we were all going through it was what it was. But I think she’s great with my girls. They love her. “I think anytime you go through a divorce it’s such a huge change in your life, and obviously my divorce was very public and it got very nasty… Charlie and I didn’t want that — we didn’t want all the conflict and this and that, and that’s just was the situation was. I like things very calm and happy.” And who doesn’t?  We agree it’s about time Richards and Sheen settled down and at least pretended to tolerate one another for the sake of the younguns…but Richards didn’t say they’d had more than one dinner, and a single meal where everyone manages to behave doesn’t necessarily mean the reign of custody-battle terror has ended.  But we’ll just hope for the best. Gibson confirms bun in oven to Leno May 26, 2009 at 7:42 am Our news wire has the full report on Mel Gibson’s revealing appearance on The Tonight Show Monday night, including deets on his former marriage and jokes about Octo-Mom: Mel Gibson confirmed his girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is pregnant after he was put in the hot seat by Jay Leno on The Tonight Show. The actor spoke candidly with the TV host during his guest appearance, fielding questions about the dissolution of his marriage and joking about dating a younger woman in an episode that will air in the U.S. on Monday. Gibson took the opportunity to clear up reports about his relationship with estranged wife Robyn, who filed for divorce in April — and even blamed himself for their split. He told Leno, “My wife and I, our marriage ended three years ago and we’ve been separated ever since then. These things happen. It’s unfortunate, it’s sad, but you know she is an admirable woman — we still got kids together. We’re friends… “Look, when it’s all said and done, I did a pretty good hatchet job on my marriage myself. I’m to blame. If you’re inclined to judge, put it here.” Leno then attempted to lighten the mood by asking about Gibson’s new younger lover, joking, “What, is she 17, 18?” The Mad Max star said the Russian singer is nearer to 40, before quipping, “Now I am going to have two women mad at me!” Gibson was then prodded about rumours Grigorieva is pregnant with the couple’s first child, to which Gibson confirmed, “This is true. We’re gonna have a child.” Leno teased about his growing brood, “So that will make 29?” and Gibson shot back, “Well, actually eight.
